The welfare of our students at Falmouth is overseen on a day-to-day basis by the form tutor who will usually remain a constant mentor to the group as they move from Year Seven to Year Eleven. Supporting the form tutor team is the Head of House who keeps an eye on each individual's progress. An extensive and dedicated team of learning support assistants provides help to those who have individual needs and we have a Leaning Support Centre staffed by specialists for those who require the environment of close personal mentoring.
Our ‘Gifted and Talented Co-ordinator’
oversees the provision to meet the individual
needs of our gifted and talented young
people. This may include promoting sporting
success, fast tracking to GCSE and A Level
exams or developing exceptional musical
and performance opportunities. Our
brightest mathematicians have shown
success at a national level following the
‘UK Maths Challenge Programme’.
We have a strong and proven track record in
students achieving their first choice
universities including Oxford and Cambridge.
Some students may need extra support to
catch up on literacy or numeracy or they
may need extra help with their behaviour or
attitude to learning. Our team of teaching
assistants led by an assistant head teacher
provides in-class support and small group
lessons where appropriate. We also provide
a safe welcoming environment within our
‘Individual Learning Department’.
